Project: 1 Williams Street, Brisbane
Builder: Brookfield Multiplex
Keeping water from entering any structure during construction has many drawbacks. OH&S issues, Industrial issues and the constant cost of de-watering flooded areas until the structure is enclosed or covered at completion of the buildings envelope.
Temporary waterproofing of buildings is now the norm on many sites and requires a waterproofing membrane that will withstand the rigors of construction traffic and trades.
The waterproofing Contractor chose KwikSeal PU70A UVR THIX as the system to best achieve this requirement. KwikSeal PU70A UVR THIX is a fast curing 70A Shore Hardness Polyurethane waterproofing membrane, fast in application, minimal damage and durability that would withstand the ongoing traffic of the podium slabs with concrete trucks, deliveries that would be a living part of the works until the building envelope and the construction programs completion.
The repairs of the membrane in this harsh environment considering the construction traffic that extended for almost two years was minimal, easy and with the fast 4 hour curing effectively rendered access back onto the damaged arears far in advance of any other hand applied Polyurethane membrane on the market.
KwikSeal PU70A UVR THIX was also chosen as the temporary waterproofing membrane for the external perimeter of each of the 40 plus floors and plantrooms of this impressive structure, The sealing of the many lift shafts during the many jump form lifts that provided zero water intrusion testifies to the superior qualities of this membrane.
Every doorway and lift shaft entry was sealed against water entry using this membrane. All pipe and structural penetrations were sealed until the final installation of the relevant structural elements were installed, Plumbing, air-conditioning, elevator installation, glazing and the final roof area.
